Whilst I was at university, I was involved with the DJ Society there, which was a great way to meet like-musically-minded folk, and really what got me into DJing in the first place. Winter Warmer

Having returned to the (chilly) north for Christmas, I thought it time to record another mix. My brother has recently invested in a pair of 1210s, and Rob from cheapestpen left some classic DMZ here post-mixing session (although I'm the proud owner of 011 and 012), so now seemed a good opportunity to record my first vinyl-only mix. Exploiting the medium, this one features many tunes only available on vinyl. It was fantastic to mix songs from dubstep's past, many of which are rarely heard today. The cold weather demanded a warm selection!

170 Mix

I've had a renewed interest in dnb recently, in part due to the rise of the 'autonomic' sound thanks to dBridge and Instra:mental, as well as other more stripped back, dub-wise tunes from the likes of Calibre (whose recent dubstep output is excellent) and Rockwell (whose forthcoming release on Critical with Untold is sounding fresh). Southampton has had a great 12 months of dnb, with nights like Raygun Youth, Release, and Wax bringing some incredible fresh sounds to the city.

A DJ Competition at the last Release served as a good excuse to delve deeper into the scene, so here's a 40 minute mix featuring most of the tunes I played at that night as well as some others.
